Tradition has it that in the fourteenth century soldiers from Ludlow Castle came here to match their horses. There is certainly a record of racing in 1729.The course retains not only its Edwardian character but also a club atmosphere.
Ludlow racecourse is located in the picturesque South Shropshire countryside which boasts a golf course right in the centre. There are 16 mainly mid-week jump meetings a year and Ludlow Racecourse offers an enjoyable and informal day’s racing in a friendly club atmosphere. The course is a right hand national hunt course. Chase course flat with sharp bends, circuit 1m4f. Hurdles track, 150y longer, slightly undulating, with easier bends.
